Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica), the source material for BrocoPower

Broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica), the Jeju source material for BrocoPower.

BrocoPower is BK bio's branded muscle-health ingredient from the Superccoli series: a Jeju broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. italica) extract, made with pulsed electric field processing and ethanol extraction and standardized to glucoraphanin and sulforaphane. In a 100-person trial it supported grip-strength gains roughly 2.9 times those of the control group.

Functions & features

What BrocoPower does

  • Enhances muscle function
  • Antioxidant
  • Anti-inflammatory

BrocoPower is standardized to glucoraphanin and its bioactive derivative sulforaphane, the glucosinolate pathway broccoli is known for. The extract supports muscle function with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity.

Human clinical trial

Clinical results

~2.9×
Grip-strength improvement versus the control group over 12 weeks (p < 0.001).
100
Adult men and women, with no adverse reactions across 12 weeks of consumption.

In a study run with Yangsan Pusan National University Hospital, 100 adult men and women consumed BrocoPower for 12 weeks. The test group showed a significant gain in grip strength, approximately 2.9 times greater than the control group, and the ingredient was proven safe with no adverse reactions across the 12-week period.

Efficacy results summary — change (Δ) vs. baseline
MeasureControl (Δ)Test (Δ)pRemarks
Handgrip strength, left (kg)+0.49 ± 0.82+1.43 ± 1.74< 0.001~2.92×
Handgrip strength, right (kg)+0.69 ± 0.79+1.83 ± 1.51< 0.001~2.65×
Isokinetic strength (Biodex)Right-quadriceps strength change was numerically higher in the test group (11.09 N·m) than the control (8.11 N·m), supporting exercise-driven muscle improvement.
Physical performanceOverall SPPB scores, including gait speed and chair-stand time, improved significantly in both groups, with the ingredient acting as a metabolic booster during exercise.

Note: results may vary by individual.
